The Witcher IV totally dominating the press in the first 72 hours from the start of The Game Awards 2024!
There's a lot of focus on Ciri, with discussion around her being a Witcher, what she looks like and how people feel about her being the main playable protagonist. 3rd placed, Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet from Naughty Dog has also generated a wealth of online discussion about the gender and look of the female character who appears to be the lead. We really don't know very much about the story or gameplay of these two titles yet, will their main characters continue to drive press coverage and social chatter? It will be interesting following these stories and discussions through to release!
What a show it was this year, Geoff Keighley definitely outdid himself for the 10th anniversary of the awards. What a treat to see so many old franchises making a return and plenty of new ones to keep us all interested and excited for the coming months and years. There was a little bit of everything for everyone.

2024 in general has been a slightly sombre affair with far too many layoffs and studio closures, but so many big reveals and genuine excitement ends the year on a high and hopefully gives everyone in the industry more positivity going into 2025.
